For those who are uncertain.

Edintoday was a project I did in my third year at ENU. The overall idea was to create a website with all events in Edinburgh. However, just listing all events by normal category wasn’t enough. We needed to show them by sentiment of the people.

Tools:

Sketch
Adobe XD
Adobe Illustrator
Paper
Pilot V7

What makes it so cool:

Sentiment categories for events
A really cool brand

The process

  • Highlighting problems

When we first met I was asked to design an event website. I asked myself: what does Facebook miss? What doesn’t Eventbrite have?

    Answer: they are not human.

We carried out a test, to find out how people decide what to do during the day.

  • What users want

People nowadays are figuratively covered by events on Facebook. They are everywhere. And they don’t know what to do.

They do know, however, how they feel at the moment.

  • Sketching

I had really few weeks to do both UX and UI. I sketched everything directly on screen, and sent out as fast as I could.

Brand

Since I was also in charge of the branding, I did my research. Turned out, Edinburgh’s animal is the unicorn. The idea of a fantasy animal would work perfectly with the aim of the website: a website that would know what to suggest based on people’s feelings.

User interface

A clean and open homepage, ready to make people discover new events.

A category page that helps people understand what each title means. And makes them say “AAAAAH! That’s right!” in the end.
